Lament

A journey from grief to hope.

  • "Lament: A Journey From Grief to Hope" is a collaborative recital, delivered both live and through a digital subscription, with a primary focus on the importance of lamenting. This recital is comprise of ten reflective "chapters," each incorporating different types of poems and laments from scripture.

In this era of unparalleled challenges, including global pandemics, disease, humanitarian crises, personal tragedies, and a looming mental health crisis, the urgency for collective mourning and healing is undeniable. Unfortunately, in our present era, the much-needed time for reflection and grief has been hijacked by everyday distractions, social media, constant noise, scandals, and political strife.

Music plays a very important role in healing. Classical music in particular requires much from us; attention, thoughtfulness, understanding, and imagination. But in an overworked and weary society, forms of entertaining that edify and renew the human spirit are of utmost importance. The beauty of music has proven time and time again to be necessary for a myriad of reasons including relaxation, improved mental health, increased cognitive activity and much more. We need music to point us to something and someone beyond who and what we can see.

This project has two phases. Currently we are booking live recitals at different churches and venues. Stage two is a partnership with Deus Ex Musica in which we will be commissioning composers to write new music for this project. This music will then be recorded and distributed digitally.

  • In order for success for this project to be achieved, partnership with underwriters, sponsors and donors is requested. We are currently booking live performances previously written music, and the recording project with newly commissioned music is expected to be completed by 2026. All donations are tax-deductible through my fiscal sponsor, Fractured Atlas. Funds will be used to pay extra musicians, audio/visual engineer, venue rental, and compensation for time and talent. Thank you for your consideration!
